We’ve all heard social networking horror stories. Here’s one that prompted a judge to call the situation the “most horrific complaint this court has ever reviewed.”
Nineteen-year-old Anthony Stancl received a 15-year prison sentence and will spend another 13 years on intense supervision. He was convicted on numerous charges, including:
- five counts of child enticement
- second-degree sexual assault
- third-degree sexual assault
- repeated sexual assault on the same child, and
- possession of child pornography.
According to reports, here’s the chain of events that ended with the former New Berlin Eisenhower High School student being sentenced to prison:
- Stancl created a fake Facebook profile under the name “Kayla” and encouraged male classmates to send nude photos of themselves.
- Posing as “Kayla,” Stancl tricked more than 30 of his male classmates into engaging in sexting.
- Then “Kayla” threatened to post those photos on Facebook unless the boys agreed to have sexual encounters with her friend, Anthony Stancl.
- Stancl recorded at least seven acts of sexual coercion on his cell phone.
- The blackmail continued for more than a year, until one of the boys finally reported the abuse after “Kayla” asked for pictures of his brother. The victim reported being coerced into having oral and anal sex on four occasions.
- The investigation revealed “Kayla” didn’t exist, Stancl plotted the entire scheme on his own and more than 300 photos of underage boys were stored on Stancl’s computer.
