Considering adding surveillance cameras to your school buses? Might be a good idea, as this case shows.
Florida prosecutors have released surveillance video that shows a 13-year-old student being beaten by seven classmates on the school bus.
The unnamed victim was beaten for well over two minutes, while the driver continued on. Students at the front of the bus are seen urging the driver to pull over. (The video can be seen here. Scroll down to the second video.)
When the driver finally stopped, a fellow student dragged the unconscious victim off the bus to safety.
The girl sustained a concussion, was taken to the hospital and now suffers from residual seizures.
School officials suspended seven students involved in the attack.
The students, five girls and two boys, originally faced felony charges, but the charges have since been reduced to misdemeanors. All of the students have been released to their parents. School officials have also recommended expulsion.
But the school doesn’t plan to add bus aides to the routes.
The bus driver has resigned.
We’ll keep you posted.

I like the Mom who defended her daughter in believing that the daughter “accidentally” kicked the victim… the daughter just got a free pass to continue this unacceptable bullying mob behavior. She should be holding that daughter accountable.
